In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, a major road accident occurred in Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, claiming the lives of about 12 people. The collision between a tanker and a tempo took place in the Allahganj police station area, attributed to the dense fog prevalent at the time. The victims, devotees en route to Dhai Ghat for a Ganga bath from Damgada village in Madnapur police station, were crushed by the tanker around 11 AM.
The accused truck driver fled the scene, prompting villagers to chase him for 12 km before apprehending him. The police, led by Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena, MLA Hariprakash Verma, and District Officer Umesh Pratap Singh, arrived at the Sehra Mau Southern police station area to assess the situation. The bodies have been taken into custody for post-mortem, and the injured have been transported to the hospital.
